This is just too good not to share (VIDEO)

Here's a dramatic change of pace and a big change of topic from state tournament football. It is exciting to share this! It is just completely wonderful.

Mrs. Carin Hagemeyer has taught Family and Consumer Science (FACS) locally at Belgrade-Elrosa high school and then B-B-E high school since she was hired in the summer of 1982 by the District No. 736 school board at Belgrade and Superintendent Duane Swenson. She joined the staff of B-E high school in place of former Home Economics teacher Suzanne Schneider and also assumed the advisor position with the high school's Future Homemakers of America (FHA) group. Today what was the FHA is known as Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), which is a student organization that teaches youth to make a difference in their families, careers and communities by addressing important personal, work and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. The work of FCCLA generally complements the co-curricular education of FACS classes, and Hagemeyer has devoted untold levels of hours, time and energy into not only her FACS classes but also the school's award-winning FCCLA group.

Hagemeyer has taught selflessly with a distinct level of dedication and knowledge of her Family and Consumer Science industry for 41 years and counting (now in her 42nd year here). We are beyond lucky and blessed to have had her teaching in Belgrade during that time.

Mrs. Hagemeyer was recently honored as a 2023 Educator of Excellence for her innovation, dedication, and commitment to get results for her students. This award is given to educators each year by the Minnesota Rural Education Association (https://www.mreavoice.org).

This video, produced by the MREA, features an interview with Hagemeyer and others at B-B-E:

Interviewed in the video were High School Principal Laura Spanier (B-B-E Class of 1998 who was a former student of Hagemeyer's) plus Class of 2023 graduate Allison Dingmann and Class of 2024 member Reegan Jones. The video was recorded roughly one year ago during the fall of 2022.

Congratulations to Mrs. Hagemeyer for this well-deserved award! With winter coming, we are excited to see another round of your Christmas Gingerbread house projects!
