Alumni night! and more (VIDEOS)
Tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team is hosting Maple Lake in a Central Minnesota Conference game. It is also Parents Night, Seniors Night and Alumni night! At halftime, past graduates of Belgrade, Brooten and B-B-E high school who played for the boys' basketball teams were honored at mid court.
In the varsity game, the Jaguars led 20-17 with about 8 minutes left in the first half. Their shooting came alive and they expanded the lead to 45-22 at the break.
Final score: B-B-E 81, Maple Lake 47. The Jaguars (16-8) now have a few days of preparation next week before traveling to Royalton (7-17) on Thursday, February 29 to conclude the regular season.
In the Central Minnesota Conference tonight, the Paynesville Area Bulldogs pulled into a tie for first place with a 57-54 win against No. 4-ranked and sub-section and bordering rival Eden Valley-Watkins. Next Monday, the Bulldogs could clinch a share of the title with a win at Maple Lake. The Eagles, meanwhile, need to beat Holdingford next week to earn a share. It is likely that Paynesville and EV-W will each finish 13-1 in the CMC as co-champions.
Here's a special video featuring members of the 4th and 5th grade elementary grades singing the National Anthem last night:
Here's action from last night's game with Brandon-Evansville featuring the tip-off and opening minutes of the first half:
I have to give a huge shout out to the B-B-E Resistance Robotics team! They were featured in a front-page article of this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. Tomorrow the robotics team travels to Willmar high school for their Week Zero scrimmage. Look for additional robotics coverage in the February 29 issue of The Voice.
More to follow later after I start reviewing the area scoreboard.
