Saints prevail vs. Royals in 10 innings
The Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team kept their playoff hopes alive with a thrilling walk-off 7-6 win in 10 innings against Richmond on Friday night. The game was played across two days, as it began on May 24 but was halted after the third inning due to the weather. It was an incredible game that saw 24 runners stranded by both teams.
In the bottom of the 10th, Will VanBeck led off with a walk, advanced on a two-out intentional walk issued to Jackson Peter and then scored on Derek Wiener's RBI-single off the fence. Wiener had a hot bat all night and went 5-for-6 with 5 RBI while accounting for half of Elrosa's hits.
Payton VanBeck started and pitched three innings before being relieved by Ethan Vogt. Will VanBeck earned the win while pitching 2 2/3 innings of two-hit relief.
