Bright spots across a bitterly cold weekend (VIDEOS)
In youth boys' and girls' basketball action, numerous elementary basketball teams competed in home and away tournaments this weekend. Roughly 22 members of the current third grade, the Class of 2034, played in tournaments at just about the very beginning of their careers. Today, at BOLD high school in Olivia, Class of 2034 girls' basketball players were in a tournament. Yesterday, on the home courts at B-B-E high school and elementary, third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys' basketball players hosted their own tournament.
At Royalton yesterday, members of the Class of 2031 girls' basketball team played in a tournament. Today at Eden Valley-Watkins, Class of 2032 girls' basketball players played in a tournament where they finished 1-2.
Here's a video from the second half of the varsity game on Thursday night against Royalton...
In that video, the Jaguars cut into Royalton's large (13-point) halftime lead in the latter part of the second half. With just under 7 minutes to go, Kacey Fischer's three-point shot on the right wing cut the deficit to 43-41.
Here's the last 93 seconds or so of the 1st half of today's consolation semifinal in Eden Valley:
The B-B-E 5th graders won 17-4 in that game against Rocori.
More to come later. I have to catch up on more exciting dance team news from the Rocori Invitational. We are all fighting bone-chilling temperatures across the Bonanza Valley area this weekend. Tonight, the temperature is supposed to drop to plunge to 19 below zero! Tomorrow, Monday, the high is supposed to be negative 13 degrees! Then! A low of 23 below zero is coming tomorrow night. Good grief! That reminds me of winters I experienced when I was a sophomore and junior at B-B-E high school.
I've also been greatly distracted recently by discovering a free channel on our TV that features one show, 24/7 - Little House on the Prairie!
