Jaguars Volleyball Drops First Match at Howard Lake, Rebounds to Advance to Championship Match and Throttle Eden Valley-Watkins for the Title


In the opening match at the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted tournament, the Jaguars volleyball team fell in two straight games to Norwood-Young America (2-2). They rebounded with a 2-1 win against Class AAA Maple Grove, with a nail-biting 15-13 win in the deciding game three.

The Jaguars would win their final pool play match 2-0 against Big Lake, a former Central Minnesota Conference member. They came out on top of the Gold Division to earn the right to play in the 3:00 championship match.

They made quick work of Eden Valley-Watkins, taking two straight games from the Eagles to earn championship honors.

The Jaguars are now 5-1 on the season, and travel to Hancock for a non-conference matchup next Monday (Sept 10).

The Jaguars girls tennis team went 1-2 at a tough Becker Quadrangular today. The Jaguars opened up with a 7-0 loss to Becker, followed by a tight 4-3 loss to Class AA Monticello. The Jaguars finished the Quad with a nice 5-2 win against Section 5A foe Annandale. **They are 9-9 overall, breaking the school record for wins in a season in girls tennis at B-B-E.
