Busy Night in Jaguars Country- Road Win at Melrose for Girls Basketball, Close Losses for Boys Basketball and Wrestling


The Jaguars wrestling team fell to Holdingford in a close matchup for the Section 5A opener tonight at Paynesville, losing by a final 38-31 margin to the Huskers. They have over a week of practice to prepare for the Section 5A individual tournament, on Fri-Sat February 22-23 at Kimball Area High School.

The Jaguars girls basketball team won at Melrose Area by a 65-52 final score, for the 14th win of the season against seven losses. It marks a tie for the second-best regular season of any B-B-E girls basketball season, as the 1992-1993 edition went 14-7 during their regular season. The record is 16-6, set in 1994-1995.

The Jaguars boys basketball team lost 66-60 to CMC second-place Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (13-6, 7-2 CMC) on the home floor tonight. The K-2nd elementary danceline group performed at halftime with the Jaguars varsity danceline team. The boys host Holdingford this Friday night, and the 4th-6th grade danceline will join their varsity counterparts for halftime that night.
