Sub-Section 5A-West Opening Win for Jaguars Girls Tennis Team, 4-3 Win Over Melrose Area

The Jaguars girls tennis team won their 7th team match of the season in the Sub-Section 5A-West play-in round, defeating the Melrose Area Dutchmen 4-3. The Jaguars advance to the sub-section quarterfinal round, where they will face the Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Braves at the Benson High School tennis courts at 4:00 on Thursday, October 2nd.

Melrose finishes their season 9-12 overall. They went 1-2 against B-B-E this year.

The Jaguars cross country team will perform at the BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector Invite in Olivia on Thursday. The meet begins at 4pm. Other teams include Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd, MACCRAY, Paynesville Area, Redwood Valley, Renville County West, Springfield, and Murray County Central (Slayton).

The Jaguars volleyball team hosts Eden Valley-Watkins on Thursday night. The Eagles are 4-8-1 after a 3-1 loss to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City on Monday night. They are 1-3 in the Central Minnesota Conference, with their lone win in league play coming on September 4th when they won 3-2 at Holdingford. Thus far, that is Holdingford's only loss in the CMC.

The Jaguars football team hosts Eden Valley-Watkins on Friday night at the high school athletic field stadium. EV-W is good. There's not much more to say about them, it's no secret they're one of the best Class AA teams in the state.

I still think our Jaguars have a chance of causing some damage, though, and making a good game of it on our home field. They're 2-0 so far at the Jaguars sports complex stadium this season. B-B-E has not picked up 3 regular season home wins in football since 1988.
