Hot off the press: Jaguars Baseball seeded #8 in Sub-Section 5A-West

The Jaguars baseball team was seeded #8 in Wednesday night's playoff ranking meeting. They will host 9th-seeded Kimball Area on Thursday, May 21 at 5:00pm at Saints Field in Elrosa.

If they win, they would travel to top-seeded Eden Valley-Watkins the next day for a 5:00 game against the Eagles.

I was very surprised to hear the Jaguars were not the #7 seed.

Complete Sub-Section 5A-West baseball seedings:
1- Eden Valley-Watkins
2- Maple Lake
3- Upsala/Swanville Area
4- Browerville/Eagle Valley
5- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City
6- Holdingford
7- Osakis
8- B-B-E
9- Kimball Area

Records and further info on those teams will be posted over the next couple days/weekend.

The Jaguars baseball team plays at Osakis at 4:30 on Friday.

In the latest Coaches Association rankings for baseball, the following area teams found themselves on the list. In Class AA, Paynesville Area (#19), BOLD (#14), Rocori (#20), with Pierz receiving votes. In Class A, Royalton was #6 on May 5th but certainly won't be there when the next votes take place. Maccray was #13 and probably moved up lately, with Eden Valley-Watkins also receiving votes and undoubtedly moving up since the May 5th vote took place.

In other Jaguars sports...playoffs begin for golf and fastpitch. On Friday the Jaguars boys and girls golf teams compete in the Sub-Section 5A-North tournament at the Benson Golf Club. At 5:00 on Friday, the Jaguars fastpitch hosts Swanville (10-5) in the Sub-Section 5A-West quarterfinals.
