Elrosa Saints players and fans are heartbroken - high hopes of Elite Eight berth are shattered in 14-inning loss to Cannon Falls

The Saints dugout cheers as Pat Illes rounds the bases after hitting his two-RBI home run in the top of the 9th inning.

The Elrosa Saints ended a truly Cinderella dream season with a final record of 15-13 overall, after posting a 5-8 regular season record in the Stearns County League, entering playoffs 7-9 overall.

The Saints trailed 2-0 going into the ninth inning, with the outlook being grim. Ethan Vogt's one-out single gave some life to the Elrosa fans section, with Pat Illies then throttling a two-RBI home run over the right field fence. The Elrosa fans and players roared to new life, as Illies and Vogt rounded the bases with the score knotted at 2-all.

Five innings later, however, the hearts were broken when Cannon Falls had a two-RBI home run clear the fence to give the Bears the walk-off win.

St.Martin crushed Hampton 8-0 in their second-round game on Saturday. It marks the first time in Martins baseball history that they have advanced to the Elite Eight round of the state tournament.
