Jaguars Volleyball starts 2009 season with impressive 3-0 sweep of Class AA #14-state-ranked Sauk Centre
Junior Maggie Gruber (left) led the Jaguars in hitting with 10 kills against Sauk Centre - Shannon Gruber (right) was one of three Jaguars who had three ace serves apiece during the match.
The Jaguars defeated the Mainstreeters in the season opener for the second straight season. This time, it happened behind the strength of a well-balanced team that will pave their way through the season without All-State performers Heidi Lensing and Emily Roelike - both playing college volleyball this fall.
Sauk Centre brings back a wealth of experience from last year's Sub-Section 6AA runner-up team, while the Jaguars returned four starters and a number of other letterwinners who hope to keep B-B-E's volleyball program on the map.
A humbling sweep for the Mainstreeters, no doubt, who felt they had a good shot at knocking off the Jaguars. Since 2001, Sauk Centre has only one win in volleyball (regular season/playoffs) to its credit against B-B-E - coming in the Sauk Rapids tournament in 2007.
