Jaguars Volleyball sweeps Holdingford, wraps up 24-5 regular season and 3rd straight 7-0 CMC season, 4th title in a row

The Jaguars won 25-16 in game one after opening up an early 18-5 lead.

Games two and three went to the Jaguars 25-12, 25-14.

The game was aired on 107.1 FM out of Glenwood.

The Huskers enter Section 6AA-North playoffs 9-15-1 overall, with a 2-5 final record in the Central Minnesota Conference.

The Jaguars are now four-time defending CMC champions, having won the crown outright with 7-0 records in 2007, 2008, and 2009. They open Sub-Section 5A-South playoffs at home next Friday (Oct 30) - assuming they receive the #1 seed in the "southwest" pod of Section 5A.

By the way, a big shoutout to junior cross country runner Grant Bell, who earned All-Central Minnesota Conference honors at the CMC Meet on October 13. Bell took second place in the boys division. He placed fifth as a sophomore to earn All-CMC honors in 2008.

In a stunning outcome in Park Region volleyball action, the Bertha-Hewitt Bears lost in a 3-0 sweep to the Sebeka Trojans in what was the conference championship, as both teams were 5-0 in league play going into the match. The Bears are the #4-ranked team in Class A and the top team who will challenge the Jaguars for the 5A-South sub-section crown.

Bertha-Hewitt falls to 24-4 overall with one match remaining before playoffs (tonight against a bad Eagle Valley team) - Sebeka improves to 16-4-1, while also enjoying the right to take the 2009 Park Region championship tropy to their high school. Sebeka was champions (6-0) of the Park Region in 2008 and 2007 as well, with the Bears finishing as runners-up. In 2006, 2005, and 2004, the Bears were undefeated champions.

Sebeka and Nevis are the top teams in Sub-Section 5A-North. They duked it out in 2008 for the sub-section title, with Nevis coming out on top.

In Section 5AA, Maple Lake earned the #1 seed for the north half. Delano, the #5-ranked team in Class AA, is the #1 seed in the south half. The Irish (17-6) have a great shot at advancing to the section finals for the first time since 2007.
