Jaguars Girls Basketball wins second in a row - throttles Maple Lake 47-25, Jaguars boys hoops bury Holdingford, Jaguars wrestling drubs HL-W-W 43-24

Julie Hieserich anchors the top of the defensive set against Kimball on Tuesday night. She tallied five points and five assists at Maple Lake tonight.

The Jaguars girls basketball team improves to 4-10 overall and 3-4 in the Central Minnesota Conference with their convincing win over the host Irish, who fell to 4-13 overall.

After building a 20-8 lead with about four minutes left in the first half, the Irish picked up their intensity to make it a nine-point game with a three-pointer at 1:08 on the clock. A 10-foot jump shot from sophomore guard Raeann Sorenson made it 24-13 as the clock wound out.

The first half turnover margin favored the visitors, with the Jaguars giving up the ball eight times and the Irish 11. B-B-E went 3-of-6 at the free throw line, with the Irish going 2-of-2.

The Jaguars poured it on in the second half beginning with a four-of-four performance at the free throw line by Rachel Anderson and Sorenson. The Jaguars held the Irish to six points of offense over a span of 14 minutes in the second half.

Sophomore forward Shyan Kuefler led the Jaguars with 10 points and seven rebounds in the game. Though she was the only Jaguar in double figures scoring, she was one of nine Jaguars who hit the scoring column. In fact, after the first 19 minutes of the game were gone, those nine players had scored.

While they may be 4-10 overall, the Jaguars have a great shot at finishing with 12 or more wins, as eight of their final 12 games of the regular season are at the home gymnasium. Even a record of 13-13 would put them in a good position in Sub-Section 6A-South this March.

Smooth Magic 107 FM of Glenwood carried tonight's Central Minnesota Conference matchup.

More on the game will follow later.
