Jaguars Girls Basketball posts second straight win to cap the regular season, defeats Kimball Area 46-40
Just what the doctor ordered, two straight wins to end the regular season and gain some confidence as Sub-Section 6A-South playoffs approach. The Jaguars girls basketball team defeated visiting Kimball Area 46-40 on Friday night to end the regular season 11-15 overall and 7-7 (4th) in the Central Minnesota Conference.
The Jaguars were led by sophomore forward Shyan Kuefler's 11 points, while as a team, they out-rebounded the Cubs by a 33-20 margin. Senior center Lauren Anderson was the other Jaguar in double figures, tallying 10 points and eight rebounds.
Kimball didn't help their cause, shooting only 1-of-9 from the charity stripe.
The Cubs enter Section 5AA action with a 12-12 overall record; they went 4-10 in CMC play, tied with Pierz for 6th place. Kimball actually received the #3 seed in Sub-Section 5AA-North - it's got a pretty bad bunch of teams in the bottom half. Maple Lake, who finished dead last in the CMC and is only 5-19 overall, will actually have a home playoff game to start 5AA playoffs as the #4 seed. The Irish will host #5-seed Zimmerman, who went 3-22 in the regular season and actually defeated Maple Lake back on December 15 (however, that was the last time Zimmerman won, they are on a 20-game slide!).
Eden Valley-Watkins, just 10-14 overall, is the #2 seed in 5AA-North. They finished 8-6 in the CMC, good for 3rd place alone. Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, 22-4 overall, went 14-0 in the CMC for their first conference championship; they are the #1 seed in 5AA-South.
