B-B-E surges past Wildcats

Never count B-B-E out, as New London-Spicer found out Tuesday.

The Jaguars (15-1 overall) came back from a 13-point, first-half deficit to tip the Wildcats (7-10) 73-70 before a nearly-packed gym in New London.

"For a while, we were being so aggressive and knocking shots down," said NL-S coach Chad Schmiesing.

The Wildcats out rebounded the Jaguars on the offensive glass and held B-B-E in check for much of the first half with their defense.

"We were changing our defense around a little bit from a man to zone," Schmiesing said. "That kept them tentative."

NL-S led 21-18 after the first quarter before taking a commanding 42-33 lead into the locker room at halftime.

After the third quarter was completed, the host Wildcats led 55-46.

But B-B-E found its drive in the fourth quarter, using a 1-2-2 half-court trap and converting the turnovers into points.

Junior point guard Troy Rosengren led the Jaguars with 25 points overall and sank four three-pointers.

"Troy Rosengren said just give me the ball and I'll take care of it," said Schmiesing of the Jaguar sharp-shooter's fourth-quarter performance.

B-B-E outscored NL-S 27-16 in the fourth quarter for the improbable comeback.

B-B-E box scores: 24-of-69 field goal shooting (8-of-20 three-point shots), 15-of-23 free throws. 32 rebounds. 19 fouls.

Scoring: Troy Rosengren 25 (7 assists 5 steals), Andrew Rosengren 12 (2 3's), Ryan Koehler 11, Josh Eckstein 2, Kurt Dingmann 5 (14 rebounds), Nick Speldrich 2, Zach Dingmann 16.
