Odds & Ends

Desk-clearing notes.

Sub-Section 6AA-East boys basketball seedings are completed:
1. New London-Spicer
2. Albany
3. Melrose
4. Pierz
5. Paynesville
6. Sauk Centre
7. Holdingford
8. St. John's Prep

No surprises, but it is interesting to note that seeds 4 through 8 are pretty bad teams. A sub-.500 record gets the #4 seed (Pierz).

What will be fun is the 3 vs. 6 matchup between Melrose and Sauk Centre. Another epic border battle where you can toss out the records at tip-off.

Sub-Section 5AA-North boys basketball seedings:
1. St. Cloud Cathedral
2. Zimmerman
3. Maple Lake (a nice seed for the Irish after having a terrible 2008-2009 season)
4. Foley
5. Meadow Creek Christian
6. Eden Valley-Watkins
7. Kimball
8. Milaca

Back to State Wrestling...
Sauk Centre's Lucian Grow (152 pounds) won his state opener by a 5-0 decision last night. He takes a 31-8 record up against Medford's Brad Keller (39-2), who squeezed past BOLD's Alex Steffl in a 6-5 decision.

The other Mainstreeter who qualified for state, John Gusewelle, breezed past his first-round opponent in a 7-0 decision over Juan Gomez of Chatfield. Gusewelle, at 189 pounds, is now 38-2 and will take on Kody Lafraniere/Sorenson of Frazee (36-5).
