Jaguars football is in the battle of the year at Pierz - down 12-0 late in the first half... Final: Pierz 33, B-B-E 0
The Jaguars football team is fighting their tails off trying to stay in the game at Pierz, holding them to two touchdowns in the game's first 20 minutes.
With about two minutes remaining, the Pioneers lead 12-0 on their Homecoming night.
Pierz (4-1) is the #9-ranked team in the latest Class AA state rankings.
**Update at 9:20pm...thanks to the Little Falls radio station for e-mailing me the final score. It was pretty bad news, however. The Pierz Pioneers handed the Jaguars their first shutout loss of 2010. Final score: Pierz 33, B-B-E 0.
It is the fourth straight year that the Jaguars have been shut out by Pierz. In 2006, the Pioneers defeated B-B-E in Pierz 34-12.
Here's a quick shout out to senior Grant Bell, who took runner-up honors in the boys' varsity division at the BOLD/BL-H-S cross country meet in Olivia on Thursday afternoon. He finished with a time of 17:18.

**A crazy Homecoming game is playing out at Benson, where the visiting Minnewaska Lakers were dominated on the stats sheet by the Braves at Brock Field, the visitors held on a goal line stand in the final minutes. Benson had goal to go, driving as deep as the two yard line. A missed Benson field goal (wide left on a 20-yard attempt by Cody Jaeger) left the score at Minnewaska 28, Benson 26 with just over two minutes left.
Benson had 28 first downs, Minnewaska had 11. Benson racked up 473 yards of offense, and Minnewaska had 231 yards of offense. Benson ran 81 plays, Minnewaska ran 37. The Lakers were plus-1 in the turnover department - the key statistic in the game. (3 Benson turnovers were converted into touchdowns by Minnewaska)
Other noteworthy games: New London-Spicer destroyed visiting Milaca tonight 54-13. That's just crazy.
