Hug your children often

Click to read more about Newtown, Connecticut and the school shooting that took place there this morning:

Interesting: in 1927, a farmer killed 38 children using explosives in a school building that housed 314 students in rural Michigan.

It is possible that this was a custody case gone wrong, as the shooter was a father of a student at the school but lived 77 miles away in New Jersey.

However, we must continue our attempts to root out bullying in our schools. I'm not naive enough to think that bullying does not take place at B-B-E, but it better not happen around any of my children there.

Losing Coach Rich Vos in October was absolutely awful for our community to endure. Needing a gang of extra counselors and other professionals in the school after that dark day was a sad but necessary act. We need to do everything we can to carry on with Coach Vos's positive spirit, and do everything we can to love and care for others.

Bullying is a problem. Mental illness and how we deal with it is a problem. Let's keep our eye on the ball and try to make the world a better place.
