Friday Night Lights Part V: BBE rains on Rockford's Homecoming!!

Brian Goodwin making a great pass to Tommy Cebulla in the flats during the first half in Rockford. Goodwin completed 9 passes in 15 attempts.

Another win!!

The Jaguars football team shut out Class AAA Rockford Area in the 2nd half and went on to win 22-7 to wreck Rockford's ritzy, show-biz Homecoming game. They take a 4-1 record to Maple Lake next Friday.

And my Smartphone is dying...more to follow by 11:15pm from Belgrade.....okay got it charging off my laptop!

The game could not have started any better for the Jaguars, as they got an interception on the very first play of the game. Rockford had the ball for all of six seconds while running their first play from scrimmage, and James Kuefler leaped high and grabbed an interception to set up a 25-yard field for his team.

Here's the result of Rockford's first play from scrimmage tonight...James Kuefler (22) hauling in an interception.

With 11:53 left, the Jaguars ran two plays and scored from 10 yards out on a run by Tommy Cebulla. The two-point conversion pass to James Kuefler was good, and the Jaguars led 8-0 with 11:20 left in the first quarter.

"Can't touch this!" (Above) Tommy Cebulla evades a Rockford defender and carries in B-B-E's first touchdown.

The Rockets scored on a 53-yard touchdown grab with a wide open receiver up the middle on their second offensive series of the game. Beyond that they could not find the end zone against some outstanding pass and run defense by the Jaguars - especially when it mattered.

That is awfully impressive to shut out a Central Minnesota Conference team for the last 3 1/2 quarters of a game! The Jaguars recorded three quarteback sacks and were very active in the Rockets' back field all night long.

For the Jaguars, they sputtered and shot themselves in the foot enough times in the first half that they led by just an 8-7 margin at halftime. They responded like winners to start the third quarter, though, driving down field on the first series and scoring on a 2-yard run by Austin Kollman with 8:38 on the clock.

In spite of Rockford's best efforts at defending the run, Kollman finished with 154 yards on 27 carries. As a team, the Jaguars rushed for 219 yards and passed for 82 more.

Rockford Area is 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the CMC; the Jaguars are 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the CMC. Second place will be on the line next week when the Jaguars face Maple Lake. Those two are 3-1 in the CMC, one game out of first where Holdingford sits.

Here's the final touchdown of the game with 1:51 left on the clock in the 4th quarter:
