Wasted opportunities in game one and two lead to a 3-1 loss
The Jaguars volleyball team blew a 19 to 15 lead in game one and lost 25 to 23 to Sauk Centre. They actually led 8-2 early and then 13-4 before three hitting errors, a block, two kills and an ace serve by the Mainstreeters suddenly made it a one-point game. Becca Gruber had a kill, but the Mainstreeters answered with two kills for a 15-15 tie. The Jaguars led 21-17 on a kill by Jamie Meyer and seemed poised to win the all-important game one...but Sauk Centre tied it at 21-21 and ultimately had a 6-0 run to get within two points of a win. The Maroon hit out of bounds twice for a tie game, but a Sauk Centre kill and ace serve ended it in their favor.
One thing's for sure: the Jaguars can beat them!
*Update: It will take 5 to win tonight...the Mainstreeters won game 2 by a 25-23 score. The Jaguars were on a roll, holding a 17-14 lead on a Karlee Kern ace serve, when the Mainstreeters fought back to tie it up at 20-20 with an ace serve of their own. Sauk Centre led 24-21 before they hit into the net and Hailey Braegelman had a kill to make it a one point game. The Jaguars served long to end the game in Sauk Centre's favor.
Update...the Jaguars smoked Sauk 25 to 9 in game four!!! The 6-2 was on fire, with Braegelman piling up a whopping seven kills to lead her team's offense.
The Jaguars went quietly in game four in a 25-12 loss. The last three points went to the Mainstreeters on unforced B-B-E errors.
Up next: a match at Maple Lake, - a TOUGH match on Thursday night....against the Irish in a Central Minnesota Conference rivalry battle. The match will be aired on Smooth Magic 107 FM of Glenwood. (Thanks, D-Mac!) Maple Lake is 10-8-1 overall and 4-0 in the CMC, so what it means is that first place in the conference is on the line!!!
Glad Youtube is working at least...here's action from game one, although it's mostly footage that the Jaguars will want to forget as it starts out with them holding a 20-17 lead in game one:
