Scouting Kimball

Make no mistake: the Kimball Cubs have an excellent girls' basketball team. They feature a strong inside-outside game and bring many challenges to the court for our Jaguars.

The Cubs are scoring 50.4 points per game while giving up 46.2 a game on defense. They shoot at a respectable 39 percent clip from the floor, 27.6 percent from the three-point line and 57.3 percent at the free throw line. They’ve averaged 32 rebounds per game while opponents have averaged 24.5 rebounds per game.

In the turnover statistics, the Cubs are about dead even with their opponents, having 17.6 turnovers per game compared to 17.4 turnovers a game for opponents.

In another interesting category, steals per game is about dead even (11.3 Cubs vs. 11.3 opponents).

Madison Hurrle is the team’s leading scorer at 10.9 points per game, followed by Madelyn O’Brien at 10.6 points per game. Next is Rebeckah Holtz at 9.1 points per game and Taylor Schreiner at 7.3 points per game.

The team’s leading rebounder is Holtz (7.7 rpg) followed by O’Brien (6.1 rpg) and Hurrle (5.6 rpg).

*One key statistic pops out from the second meeting this season on February 2 between B-B-E and Kimball. The Cubs had a much better effort against the Jaguars than when they were blown out on their home floor 50-29 in December. On February 2 the Cubs out-rebounded the Jaguars 34-26. That's one stat column the Jaguars will have to win in order to advance further in the playoffs.

In the first meeting, the Cubs suffered 35 turnovers compared to 18 by B-B-E on December 19. The Jaguars had a whopping 26 steals to just seven for Kimball that night.
