Absolutely incredible!
Here's a rough iPad photo taken following the match in Maple Lake. Much to celebrate!! |
Yes, that happened!
Tonight in their Central Minnesota Conference opener, the B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team took a two-to-one lead in sets at state-ranked Maple Lake before sealing the deal with an incredible 15-13 win in game five! Adding to the excitement was the fact that the Jaguars recovered in grand fashion after being owned in a 25-14 loss in game one.
Game scores were 14-25, 25-15, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13! The sheer shock appeal of this win is fascinating considering that just two nights ago, the Jaguars slugged through a five-game marathon at New London-Spicer in a match that lasted one hour, 50 minutes.
The Jaguars improve to 5-6 overall, while the Irish take a record of 9-1 into the talent-laden Farmington tournament this weekend.
Up next: the Jaguars host Osakis next Monday in their first home match of the season since the home opener on Sept. 3. They will have gone 18 days playing on the road in that time in a season when they have only six regular season matches at home. The Silverstreaks are 8-5 overall and 4-0 in the Prairie Conference. Make no mistake: they'll be tough!!
One remarkable point to show how good Maple Lake is: the Irish are the only team so far who have beaten Rocori. In a season-opening tournament at Albany in August, the Irish beat the Spartans in the championship match by scores of 25-20, 19-25, 17-15. Rocori is currently 13-1 and thought of as one of the premier volleyball teams in central Minnesota; they are 5-0 in the Central Lakes Conference. Rocori and Maple Lake are expected to be the teams battling it out for the Section 6AA title in November. Rocori recently won the Sauk Rapids-Rice tournament by sweeping Pierz, Monticello, Annandale and Sauk Rapids-Rice.
**DON'T FORGET! This is important! We have just two regular season home varsity football games left this fall!!! Just two! The third home game is tomorrow night, Friday!!! Please bring everyone you can to our Jaguar football stadium and cheer on our Jaguars as they take on West Central Area/Ashby in a Mid-State, Sub-District 3 battle!! The Knights are a Class 2A program, so a win over them will give the Jaguars another shot in the QRF standings that are used for playoff seeding. The weather is predicted to be absolutely fantastic for a football game (temps around 60 degrees at game time, no wind, clear skies!)
And before I forget in the midst of my "Friday Night Lights" football madness that I always experience on Fridays in the fall...I have to give a huge shout out to the B-B-E Jaguars girls' tennis team as they prepare for the Prairie Conference tournament on Saturday. It will be held at LP-GE high school starting at 9 a.m. Good luck Jaguars!!! We are proud of your work this fall on the tennis courts!
