Final Four coming

Best of luck and many well-wishes are in order for our state-ranked B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team!

They are set for a trip to the Section 5A Final Four round coming tonight at 6 p.m. at the Benson high school. At stake is the program's fifth trip to the section finals, which would take place at 8 p.m. tonight at the same location against either Minnewaska Area or Benson.

No. 3-seeded Benson defeated No. 6-seeded Paynesville Area 41-19 in their quarterfinal match on Wednesday night.

Before any thought of the section finals can take place, the Jaguars (10-6) have to knock off top-seeded and top-ranked and defending Section 5A champion Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville. The Wolves are 22-1 overall, but I feel confident the Jaguars will come out firing on all cylinders and give our fans plenty to cheer for!

To recap: the section semifinals start at 6 p.m. in Benson, and both semi matches will take place concurrently.

The Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper's sports department is still in the planning stages of what the weekend will look like starting tonight. Updates will be posted here as often as possible (in a new blog post).
