(VIDEO) Dairy crisis meeting

On Thursday, I spent a little over two hours at the Greenwald Pub at a dairy crisis meeting. It was hosted by Land Stewardship Project. I don't think it has to be stated too loudly for most people to understand: if we have more and not fewer farmers living and working on the land, our rural communities will be better off.

Below is a video from near the beginning of the meeting featuring three different speakers explaining what would be discussed that day.

One farmer spoke about his strong frustration at how large agribusiness co-ops are taking advantage of farmers. You can listen to what he said by clicking over to the Bonanza Valley Voice website (short link): https://bit.ly/2GPfP8u.

Look for at least one feature story on the dairy crisis meeting in the February 6 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. More to follow this afternoon.

In other news, today is Super Bowl Sunday if you hadn't heard. While I have considerably more important things to do tonight (like working and generating an income) than watch an NFL game, I want to share a pizza special at RJs Mini-Mart in Brooten. This special has been in place all weekend, actually...with a purchase of any large pizza, you can get a second one of equal or lesser value at half price. A medium one-topping pizza is $9.99 each, and a 12-piece of broasted chicken is $12.99. Bone-in wings are $8.99 for a dozen (sauces: buffalo, BBQ, teriyaki, sweet chili or garlic parmesan). RJs in Brooten will be open until 10 p.m. tonight (usual closing time is 8 p.m. on Sundays).
