Friday night wins in contrasting styles

The B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team stayed within reach in their hunt for a Central Minnesota Conference title with an 87-47 win over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City tonight. The Jaguars shot a red-hot 55 percent from the floor and were led by Ashton Dingmann's 24 points.

Up next: the Jaguars (7-2, 5-2) travel to Sauk Centre next Tuesday for a border battle.

**Saturday update: I see that Kimball Area handed Paynesville a close loss in a high-scoring game last night...this puts Paynesville into a tie with the Jaguars for third place at 5-2 each. Kimball Area (6-1) is in second place, with Eden Valley-Watkins (7-1) in first place with a half-game lead over the Cubs. This is quite a race shaping up in the CMC!

At Minnewaska Area, a lay-up by Abby Berge put the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team ahead 31-18 with 8 minutes to go in the game. Hurting the cause for the Lakers is foul trouble, as their two biggest players have fouled out of the game.

AND...FYI...tomorrow's home wrestling triangular begins at 12:30 p.m.

Final score: B-B-E 49, Minnewaska Area 22. Up next is a home game next Tuesday against Royalton to resume Central Minnesota Conference action.

The Lakers fell to 2-6 overall with the loss.
