2, 1, 0

The numbers 2, 1 and 0 take new significance for the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa community. For the latest one-week period, the zip code areas of Belgrade, Brooten and Elrosa (population ~ 4,285) had a total of just three COVID-19 cases added to the cumulative case load: 2 in 56312, one in 56316 and none in 56325. Elrosa has gone at least seven weeks now with no COVID cases.

These numbers were reported to the Minnesota Department of Health for the period of Thursday, February 4 through Wednesday, February 10 and released on February 11 (today).

In spite of the state of Minnesota completely and totally botching their vaccine rollout with their pure asinine and inexplicably stupid "hospital lottery" scam that was unleashed on us in January...I am happy to hear more and more locals are receiving at least the first "jab" of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The state's hospital lottery scam really screwed with outstate Minnesota's smaller hospitals. No one should be surprised by that. Our governor is as sharp as a bowling ball.

I've got more to say about our state, but I'll save that for next week's newspaper issue.

At today's home triangular, the No. 2-ranked B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team hosts Benson and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. The match with Benson is a section match, while the HL-W-W match is non-conference. This is the first year that HL-W-W is part of the Wright County Conference.

B-B-E has just one Central Minnesota Conference dual left in the regular season. That takes place at a home triangular on Friday, February 19 with Royalton. The other team coming to town that night is Ottertail Central.
