Quite a night - again

It was quite the night once again in Jaguar Country!

FINAL: B-B-E defeats K-M-S in the border battle wrestling match by a 52-13 score! Awesome!

The B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team ran their record to 13-2 with two convincing wins against neighbors to the north and to the southwest. Keep in mind: they are wrestling their toughest regular season in school history. Their schedule is stacked with great teams.

On the hard court, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team made it two in a row with an 83-29 win over Central Minnesota Conference foe Holdingford. No fewer than 13 Jaguars scored tonight! That is a season high. Sophomore Kaden Pieper led the way with 14 points, while Brady Birch added 13 points and Ashton Dingmann had 10. Birch's 13 points was also a season high. The Jaguars (6-1, 4-1) shot 51 percent from the field and made seven of 11 free throw attempts.

Next for the boys' basketball team: they have a tough task of traveling to Eden Valley-Watkins next Tuesday night. The Eagles are very good! They were 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the CMC heading into tonight's border battle at Highway 55 neighbor Kimball Area. I'm anxious to hear that final score.

EV-W is the defending CMC boys' basketball champion.

*Late night update: it appears that we have a four-way virtual tie for first place in the Central Minnesota Conference. Holy moly! The EV-W Eagles are 5-1, while B-B-E, Paynesville and Kimball are all 4-1. The Eagles won 53-27 at Kimball tonight, according to Minnesotascores-dot-net.

*Speaking of Kimball! Here's the final minute of the game last Friday night in which the Jaguars fell by a 42-40 score.

I have a mountain of stats and other news items to tend to tonight. The latest Guillotine state rankings should be available now to review. **And indeed they are! The wrestling team has climbed to the No. 2 spot in the Top 10. Also, six members of the team are ranked in the Top 10 of their individual weights. By my count, so far this season, a total of eight Jaguars have been ranked in the Top 10 individual rankings.

More to come.

*Update: I am seeing a score of 53-27 in favor of EV-W against Kimball tonight. I'll have to see that a second time to believe it. I know EV-W is good, but if that's right, they just went onto the Cubs' home court and throttled them!

Central Minnesota Conference boys' basketball scores on February 4:
Maple Lake 34, Royalton 31
Paynesville Area 62, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 60 (The Bulldogs finished the first half on a 7-0 run to take a slim 33-32 lead into halftime)
Eden Valley-Watkins 53, Kimball Area 27
