Thursday night results

At Frazee tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team won 60-3 to improve to 18-2 overall. They are taking on United Clay Becker right now to finish their part of the triangular.

*Update: in their final dual, the Jaguars won 64-16 over United Clay/Becker to improve to 19-2 on the season.

They have a home triangular tomorrow night.

The B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team won 69-31 tonight at Maple Lake. The Irish fell to 3-8 overall. By focusing on the home dance comp, I completely spaced out on the boys' basketball team and getting their live video player posted. Gosh, darn it anyhow! That's how it goes. They are 8-3 overall now. Very noteworthy to see Eden Valley-Watkins assert themselves as the top team in the Central Minnesota Conference with a 66-58 win at Paynesville tonight. The Eagles led 39-22 at halftime, but the Bulldogs cut that down to nine points just six minutes after halftime. EV-W then surged ahead by as many as 17 points before Paynesville stormed back to get within five points with under a minute to go.

With this win, the EV-W Eagles (11-1, 8-1) avenged their only loss of the year so far and stayed a half-game ahead of Kimball Area in the conference race. Paynesville Area beat EV-W 67-66 at Eden Valley in the season opener.

B-B-E's next boys' basketball game is at home next Tuesday against Royalton.

The Nevis Tigers boys' basketball team took their second loss in a row when they lost at home to Mahnomen/Waubun by an 83-78 score in overtime on Tuesday this week. Nevis is 8-2 overall and was ranked No. 1 in the last set of Class 1A state rankings. Mahnomen/Waubun was ranked No. 4 in that same poll (February 3)...the M/W Thunderbirds are now 10-0 and may grab the top ranking in the next state rankings. Ashby (9-0) is also highly rated.

I want to give a huge shout out to the B-B-E/Paynesville Pirouettes dance team! They were awesome tonight!! I was thoroughly impressed. I've got video, and I was happy to get some very good pictures during their performance.
