Second straight win (VIDEO added)

The B-B-E Jaguars baseball team won another close game to wrap up the Max Bats wood bat invitational by defeating neighboring rival Sauk Centre 7-5 on Saturday night. The Jaguars led 2-0 after the first inning and then 5-3 after two innings were complete. After going ahead 6-3, the Jaguars gave up two runs to the Mainstreeters. They then scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Wyatt Steffensen got the pitching win with four-and-one third innings of work with four hits, five strikeouts, six walks and three earned runs. Will VanBeck was the closer, and he gave up no hits, no runs, three walks and five strikeouts.

Leading the Jaguars with two hits each were Blaine Fischer, Peyton Winter and Gavin Kampsen. Kampsen and Luke Dingmann each had one extra base hit, both doubles.  

B-B-E is now 5-6 overall heading into next week's action; next is a home doubleheader with Paynesville back in Elrosa on Tuesday, May 11. The Bulldogs are 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the Central Minnesota Conference.

The newest teams in the CMC, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and Royalton, are both leading the pack at 6-1 and 7-2, respectively.

Sauk Centre fell to 2-7 overall with their fifth straight loss. They lost 12-0 to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Friday night.
