Border battle night! Final results

What a night! Wow! What can I say?? The games were played tonight in front of a near-capacity crowd at Sauk Centre high school!

At halftime, the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team trails 40-19 at Sauk Centre. FINAL: Sauk Centre 65, B-B-E 50 in girls' basketball action. Tiyana Schwinghammer led the Jaguars with 14 points, and Brooklyn Fischer was also in double figures with 13 points. Next: the Jaguars (11-6) travel to Falcons Country on Monday, January 31 for a Central Minnesota Conference game with host Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.

In the boys' basketball game, the B-B-E Jaguars won a hard-fought battle by a 49-40 score to improve to 13-3 overall with their sixth win in a row. They led 30-16 at halftime and withstood numerous pushes by Sauk Centre that closed the gap into single digits. Balanced scoring was the hallmark of B-B-E's effort, as they had five players scored seven or more points. The Mainstreeters had two main scorers: Matthew Warring with 16 points and Jay Neubert with 17 points. The next leading scorer was Ethan Riley with 5 points. Both teams were hot from beyond the arc with a combined 15 three-pointers. The Jaguars went 9-of-13 at the free throw line, while the Mainstreeters were 5-for-5 on foul shots in the game. Sauk Centre's three-game winning streak is snapped, and they hold an 11-5 overall record.
