State girls' basketball

At the quarterfinals round of the Class 1A state tournament, unseeded Nevis lost 73-38 to No. 3-seeded Hancock today in Minneapolis.

Unseeded Minneota stunned top-seeded Mountain Iron-Buhl by a 51-38 overtime score in another quarterfinal game. Both teams finished the game with 27-4 records, but it will be the Vikings moving on to the Final Four round. Minneota outscored the Rangers by a 6-3 score in the extra period. Minneota attempted just two field goals in overtime and made one of them; they went 4-of-5 at the free throw line. MI-B shot five two-pointers and four three-pointers and missed all nine field goal attempts. They went 3-of-4 at the line.

Mayer Lutheran and Hayfield won the other two quarterfinal games earlier today.

The Padua Pub held a magnificent St. Patrick's Day parade attended by a crowd of hundreds of people from throughout west central Minnesota. I've got a short video clip added to the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website that you can find by clicking here: https://bit.ly/3IsaBgA.

**Here's a video from the end of Tuesday's game:

That's all for now.
