Volleyball at Marshall


The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team has gone 1-1 so far at today's Southwest Challenge Invitational in Marshall. They defeated Sioux Falls Roosevelt in three sets after winning the third set by a 15-12 margin. The next opponent was Class 4A Lakeville South, who beat the Jaguars in straight sets.

The Jaguars now face one of the top Class 1A teams in southwest Minnesota, as they take on Russel-Tyler-Ruthton at 2:30 p.m. today in the final match of the tournament. R-T-R is where Mr. Gossen is now the high school principal.

Last night in the first round, Sioux Falls Roosevelt defeated No. 2-ranked Minneota in three sets.

The Jaguars pulled out a wild 28-26 win in game two that evened up the sets at one apiece against the Bulldogs.

**Update from Marshall: the Jaguars battled No. 4-ranked R-T-R out of the Camden Conference in the 11th-place match. They won the first set 25-19 before the Knights won 25-21. In the third and deciding set, the Knights took it by a 15-5 score. Overall in the tournament, the Jaguars hit with a 14.7 percent efficiency, which is a terrific number considering the strength of their opponents. B-B-E finished the 32-team tournament with a 2-3 record and now sits at 5-4 overall going into next week. The Jaguars host Kimball Area next Thursday, September 15 as they resume Central Minnesota Conference play.

The B-B-E Jaguars girls' tennis team hosts St. John's Prep next Tuesday in a Prairie Conference match. It begins at 4:30 p.m. It will be Teacher Appreciation and Parents night for the team.
