GAME NIGHT! and we are PUMPED UP! Bring on the Huskers (VIDEO)

What a CRAZY HUGE night ahead of us! This is crazy for just the second game of the season!

Tonight our No. 7-ranked B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team plays at Holdingford high school. The team was "wheels up" for Husker Country shortly after 4 p.m. Our Bonanza Valley Voice entourage is "wheels up" shortly after 5 p.m. The Huskers are 2-2 right now, and I would rate them as one of the best 2-2 teams in Class 1A or 2A basketball in the state. (They are 2A.) Their big three are tough as nails and have played 35 to 36 minutes each in recent games. This is going to be one tough basketball contest.

ABOUT HOLDINGFORD:
Holdingford stuck with two state-ranked teams in Sauk Centre (season opener on November 29) and then Albany just two days later. The No. 8-ranked Huskies won 51-43 after the game was tied 21-21 at halftime. Their "Iron Three" in Maddy Mitchell and Addy Pilarski (36 minutes each) and Makenna Hohbein (35 minutes) provided the bulk of the damage for Holdingford. Their scoring was as follows: Mitchell 7 points with 7 boards and 5 assists; Pilarski with 15 points and 7 boards with 3 steals and Hohbein with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

Against Albany, the Huskers had reasonably good 38 percent field goal shooting; and 4-of-13 on the arc (not bad) with 7-of-10 free throw shooting.

REPOSTED: *Here's Coach Anderson talking on a range of topics we came up with tonight during the tail end of girls' basketball practice:

Game updates to follow! I hope to get more blogging done here during the JV game once I arrive at HHS.

*AND WE HAVE ARRIVED IN HUSKERS TERRITORY! We swooped in just as halftime approached in the JV game. The JV Jaguars held a 23-22 lead at the break. **Later with 7:20 left in the second half, the Jaguars hold a slim 35-34 lead. *On the next series, the Huskers scored in the paint to gain a 36-35 lead.

JV game final: Holdingford 45, BBE 43.

VERY TENSE VARSITY GAME!
In the opening stage, the game was tied 2-2 at the 14:06 mark. Holdingford broke out a 10-3 lead with 11:05 left, and the Jaguars were playing catch-up the rest of the half.

At halftime: Holdingford 31, B-B-E 32.

Final: Holdingford 58, B-B-E 49. The Jaguars shot approximately 18 percent from the free throw line, which is my guess. This was a rough night.
