Subsection sweep for volleyball...and another fall sports show (VIDEOS)

The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team earned a hard-fought 3-0 sweep against Hancock tonight in the first of two Homecoming week matches. After struggling in game one, the Jaguars played phenomenal volleyball in game two before overcoming a 9-7 deficit in game three. Set scores were 25-20, 25-13, 25-17. The Owls entered the match 6-15 overall and ranked No. 5 in Sub-Section 6A-South.

Here's a video from game two:

After sitting in an 18-18 tie in game one, the Jaguars put the hammer down to claim a 25-20 win in game one. They reeled off 10 straight points during the middle of game two in a 25-13 win. Other match notes will be published in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper's sports section.

As a team, the Jaguars hit at a 24 percent clip tonight while racking up a season-high 17 ace serves. Four solo blocks and six block assists also helped thwart Hancock's attack.

NEXT: the Jaguars (15-4) resume Central Minnesota Conference play this Thursday at home when they entertain Maple Lake (11-11, 1-3). Our winning streak is currently 11 matches. In the latest Class 1A coaches' association polls, the Jaguars sit at No. 13 out of a total of 14 teams receiving votes.

The B-B-E Jaguars girls' tennis team opens the playoffs with a Section 6A quarterfinal match on Thursday this week at New London-Spicer. The Jaguars are seeded No. 7 out of 9 teams, while the Wildcats are the No. 2 seed. The top seed is Osakis, while Minnewaska Area is at No. 3. Seeded No. 4 is Litchfield, and they are followed by No. 5-seeded Melrose Area. In the No. 6 spot is Sauk Centre. The last two seeds are Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Upsala-Swanville Area at No. 8 and St. John's Prep at No. 9. The playoff match on Thursday starts at 4 p.m.

Here's my third fall sports show of this season, recorded late tonight:

I wanted to expand a little bit more on a few points, but the newspaper calls...time to return to the office.

Tomorrow is the big day! A huge day! It's a day I look forward to every fall. The K-12 student body will participate in the 8th annual Color FUND Run at the high school campus. The first race begins at 1 p.m. I can't blog much more and have to get the newspaper ready for press in order to get proper sleep tonight.

I do have to give a quick shout out to the B-B-E junior high football team! They have approximately 20 players in 7th and 8th grade, so while they are not big on depth, they have plenty of talent this fall! They ran their record to 4-0 this fall with a win at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City tonight. Awesome!!!
