Jaguars Wrestling : 42-31 Win Over Trinity Lutheran of Bloomington During Home Quadrangular -- Lady Jaguars Basketball Beats Kimball 68-38
Tonight at a big home Quadrangular involving four Section 5A teams, our Jaguars wrestling team performed well during three matches, including a nice 42-31 win over Trinity Lutheran. They also had strong performances in losses to Eden Valley-Watkins and #3-Class A state ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.
The highlight of the evening came in the very last match of the final dual, the heavyweight division involving the senior from ACGC, and the Jaguars' freshmen Jerry Villalbazo, who battled to the very end of the third period in a 4-3 loss that went to the final second. It was an outstanding performance for the Jaguar freshmen, with the crowd noise reaching an overpowering level as fans and teammates stood to their feet through the final two periods. Jerry pulled into a tie at the beginning of the third period, 2-2, with a clasping penalty awarded his way. He then pulled into the lead, sending B-B-E fans into a frenzy, with an escape with 1:33 left. The lead was short-lived, however, as he gave up a takedown with 66 seconds left to fall behind 4-3 for the final score. He fought and fought through the final ticks for an escape or reversal, but it was not meant to be.
Meanwhile, at Kimball, the Lady Jaguars basketball team was throttling the Kimball Cubs 68-38 for their 10th win of the season, against seven losses. It also raised their Central Minnesota Conference record to 7-4. All 15 girls on the roster saw the floor. The B-squad Lady Jaguars also won, 54-18, to up their overall record to 13-3. The C-squad Lady Jaguars were also victorious.
