Jaguars Volleyball Collects 23rd Win of the Season, 3-0 Sweep at Morris Area

Shane Weller helps Alex Thompson fix his lovely hairdo.

The Jaguars are 23-1 going into the final three matches of the season. Morris is now 11-11 overall, and they are 5-7 in the West Central South Conference.

All three of the Jaguars' final opponents (Kimball Area, K-M-S, Holdingford) have winning records. The Jaguars travel to Kimball on Thursday for the sixth Central Minnesota Conference match of the season. A win would clinch at least a share of B-B-E's eighth conference championship in volleyball.

Other years that B-B-E won at least a share of conference hardware were 1994, 1995, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006, and 2007.

So it's 11:00pm now, and all I can ask is...How are the Vikings gonna blow a 30-27 lead with only 13 seconds left? To my surprise, they didn't blow it.

Area volleyball scores:
The Paynesville Bulldogs won at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in four games. Good for them, they are a struggling program and wins have been hard to come by recently.
Brainerd 3, Pierz 1
St. Cloud Cathedral 3, Annandale 2

In the Section 5A girls tennis Final Four round, the Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Braves won two matches by 5-2 scores, advancing to the state tournament for the second time in the past three years. They beat both St.Cloud Cathedral and Maccray and bring a 22-4 record into the big show.

On Tuesday, the only action I have on the schedule is Junior High football at the high school football stadium against Benson at 4:30.

Photos from tonight's match will be uploaded to my online photo gallery at the Sauk Herald website. Parents and students can preview photos there.

I'm still working through football photos from last Friday's game, as well as a pile of photos from Saturday's volleyball tournament in Willmar. I snapped 118 more photos tonight in Morris.
