Jaguars Volleyball Wins 5th CMC Match, 3-0 Sweep Over Sub-Section 5A-South Rival Eden Valley-Watkins

The Jaguars improved to 18-1 this season. They are 5-0 in the Central Minnesota Conference. Now comes the real test, the Willmar Cardinal Classic tournament on Saturday, beginning at 9:00am at the Willmar High School. Seven of the eight teams have winning records, and those seven teams are all very good. I look for New London-Spicer, Willmar, Renville County West, and Benson to bring strong challenges to the Jaguars.

The Jaguars are included in Pool A, which includes Breckendridge (14-5-2), Benson (13-4), and Willmar (10-6). The Benson Braves are tied for first place with Yellow Medicine East with 7-1 conference marks in the West Central South. Willmar is 7-2 in the tough Central Lakes Conference, tied for second place behind league-unbeaten Alexandria. Breckenridge is 7-2 Heart O'Lakes Conference Standings, good for third place. It will be a battle to come out of this pool unbeaten.

Pool B includes New London-Spicer (14-2-1), Renville County West (10-5), Sibley East (12-7-1), and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (6-12). I predict NL-S to come out of this pool and face the Jaguars in the championship.

**I have to add...Sauk Centre defeated #1 Class-AA ranked St.Cloud Cathedral tonight on their home court in a thrilling 3-2 match. I covered the match for the Sauk Herald, as their main sports editor is on vacation this week. It was an incredible match, to say the least. Game scores were: 25-19, Cathedral. 25-21, Sauk Centre. 27-25 Sauk Centre. 27-25 Cathedral. The clinching game five went to Sauk Centre by a 15-8 score.

Central Minnesota Conference scores:
Pierz 3, Maple Lake 1
Holdingford 3, Rockford 0
Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 3, Kimball Area 1

A shot of some of the Jaguars varsity football players walking in after their Thursday practice. They will have their hands full for Friday Night Lights Part XI, when Eden Valley-Watkins comes to town. I'm as excited for this game as I am for any game, and I hope the guys are too. I hope they show some good hits and try to turn the tables on the Eagles in the pain-inflicting department, compared to past seasons when we've suffered in that area.
