Jaguars wrestlers fall on Parents' Night to Minnewaska Area

The Jaguars wrestling team fell hard to a fellow Section 5A team, the neighboring Minnewaska Lakers, by a 41-12 margin. Ten of the 14 matches were contested, with the Jaguars forfeiting two matches, the Lakers one, and the 189 class being a double-forfeit. Cole Tensen, a standout junior for the Jaguars, won an intense 1-0 decision over Cam Schaefer in the 140-pound division, a match that held playoff-like intensity for the six-minutes of action. He is now 26-5 on the season.

Senior Anthony Rooney earned his 75th career win in a 7-0 win as well against the Lakers.

The Jaguars girls basketball team was 71-61 winners against Holdingford in CMC action at home tonight. Courtesy of Bill Dean from KWLM radio, I received the following information: Sophomore Julie Hieserich had a career best 28 points. The Huskers placed most of their defensive emphasis on stopping Emily Roelike on the wing leaving Hieserich open out front. Heidi Lensing added a solid double double with 15 points and 14 rebounds while Roelike, despite the added attention, still managed to tally 12 points.

They are now 7-2 in the CMC (best record ever through 9 games in the CMC since they joined the league in 1999) and 12-7 overall.
