"The Train" 106.5 FM carries tonight's Jaguars boys basketball 79-63 win over Maple Lake - Jaguars Wrestlers fall 39-23 in Section 5A opener

Update at 8:39...With 11:00 left in the game, the Jaguars had built a 59-31 lead over the Irish.

The Jaguars ultimately won the game 79-63. The Irish (1-10 CMC, 3-17) put on a run to keep the game respectable, although they never threatened. They ended the game with an 11-of-19 mark from behind the arc. It was reported that Coach Montbriand did a great job of running reserves into the game during the second half. Even when Maple Lake began making a run with their downpour of three's, the reserves stayed the course and sweated it out.

One exciting and noteworthy part to the game was when senior Seth Hanson scored the first varsity points of his career, on a field goal no less. The crowd erupted in wild cheering, as if he had hit the game-winning shot. It was a thing of beauty to hear about, especially being broadcast on the radio.

The Jaguars finished with an outstanding mark of 56% shooting from the field (35-of-62). They racked up another pile of points, and they are leading the CMC with a 71.4 point per game average. In their last six games, they have averaged 73 points per game.

The B-squad won 57-54 to improve to 17-4 overall. They were led by Brady Koehler, who scored 18 points. The C-squad also won, and they are now 12-4 overall.

An update from the Jaguars wrestling at the Section 5A opener. The Jaguars put on an incredible performance against the 5th-seeded Minnewaska Area Lakers. After the 171 match with Anthony Rooney, the Jaguars had a 23-21 lead. Giving up the final 18 points of the match led to a loss, however, as they fell 39-23. They wrestled considerably better than they did a few weeks ago in a 41-12 loss on Parents' Night.

In one exciting match, Cole Tensen (140) got behind to start out but came back to win against Cam Shafer of Minnewaska.
