A late result for the Jaguars wrestling team... Last Tuesday (Feb 10) the Jaguars hosted Melrose Area in a dual non-conference meet. They defeated the Class AA Dutchmen 48-27. Austin Jaeger, Josh Beier, Patrick Rooney, Cole Tensen, Travis Winter, Ben Borgerding, Anthony Rooney, and Sean Speldrich all earned pins for the Jaguars, who rolled to a 48-15 lead before forfeiting the top two weight classes.
Another note on the Jaguars wrestling team's 34-33 win over Sauk Centre this past Thursday night... The Jaguars clinched the big win over the visiting Mainstreeters with a 13-4 major decision by Anthony Rooney over Tyler Walther in the 189 weight class. A loss of any sort (3, 4, 5, or 6 points) by Rooney to Walther would have resulted in Sauk Centre picking up the win. The Jaguars forfeited the final 2 weight classes to Sauk, so they needed the 4 points earned by Rooney in order to built up the 34-21 lead.
