New Munich pounds on Lake Henry, wins 14-5 in Region 15C opener - Elrosa wins 12-inning marathon vs. Norway Lake-Sunburg 5-4

The Silverstreaks, #2-seed out of the Stearns County League-North, hammered the top seed of the SCL-South by a 14-5 margin.
New Munich led 8-1 after two innings, beating up Aaron Nett, a draftee from Farming.
The Lakers came back to make it 8-5 before the Silverstreaks pulled away in the final innings.
Elrosa defeated Norway Lake-Sunburg 5-4 in 12 innings, in a spectacular game in which Lakers' starter Chris Braaten pitched all 12 innings. Elrosa scored two runs on two outs in the bottom of the first inning. Meanwhile, Saints' starter Aaron Vogt had a no-hitter going through five innings before NL-S plated two runs on four hits in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2.
A solo home run by Steve Mueller lifted the Saints back in front 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth. The Saints scored another run on an RBI-single by Nate Terres (drafted from Spring Hill) in the 8th inning to go up 4-2.
Matt Imdieke, drafted from Meire Grove, relieved Vogt in the sixth, finishing the game for Elrosa. He held the Lakers in check until giving up a two-RBI single in the top of the 9th which tied the game 4-4.
Finally, Elrosa moved into the winner's bracket of Region 15C when Pat Illies hit a no out, walk off RBI-single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning. Full details on the game will appear in next week's Belgrade Observer, Bonanza Valley Voice, and Sauk Centre Herald newspapers.

Norway Lake-Sunburg faces the loser of the Regal-St.Martin game at 3:30pm on Sunday morning. The loser of that game is out of the running for a state tournament berth.
In the third game today, St.Martin had a 3-2 lead over Regal going into the 7th inning.
**Update at 8:30pm...St.Martin defeated Regal 3-2, with Jake Harrison going the distance on the mound for the winners. Region 15C commissioner Randy Schoenberg also reported that a total of 688 individuals paid admission for the tournament today, a great turnout for day 1 of regions!
In Stearns County League Legion baseball news, the third-seeded Regal Eagles upset #2 St.Martin 5-4 last Tuesday night (August 4) - the fourth-seeded Lake Henry Lakers knocked out the top seed, Greenwald, by a 5-2 score the same night. The SCL Legion championship will take place on Monday, August 10th at 6:00pm. It will be held at the Regal baseball diamond, due to the Eagles holding the higher seed. The game is a re-match of the 2008 SCL Legion championship, in which the host Regal team (the #1-seed) lost to visiting Lake Henry 4-0.
