With 71.71% of precincts reporting at presstime at 11pm on Tuesday night, the Democratic-Farmer-Labor party governor straw poll showed the following vote totals: (1st) R.T. Rybak with 4,092 (2nd) Margaret Anderson Kelliher with 3,855 (3rd) Uncommitted with 2,765 (4th) John Marty with 1,886 (5th) Paul Thissen with 1446 (6th) Tom Rukavina with 1445 (7th) Matt Entenza with 1,324 (8th) Tom Bakk with 1,190 (9th) Steve Kelley with 779 (10th) Susan Gaertner with 393.

With 70.74% of precincts reporting at presstime at 11:05pm on Tuesday night, the Republican party governor straw poll showed the following vote totals: (1st) Marty Seifert with 7,629 (2nd) Tom Emmer with 5,463 (3rd) David Hann with 769 (4th) Write-in with 267 votes (5th) Bill Haas with 251. Three candidates were at less than 1% of the vote total.
