Scouting the Battle Lake Battlers... video below from last night's 43-25 win over Hillcrest

Noteworthy: mainly due to a swarming Battle Lake defense, the Hillcrest Comets did not score their first field goal until 6:40 remained in the first half. The Comets trailed 17-1 at that point. It was ugly (for HLA anyway).

Here is what Hillcrest head coach Gregg Preston had to say about Battle Lake whipping his team on Saturday night: "Spotting the Battlers almost twenty points to start the game was not in our game plan. I think it was a combination of our guys being a bit too keyed up and several misses of some good looks early. After missing some of those early looks at the basket, I think we tightened up at both ends of the floor and Battle Lake put the total clamps on our offense. The Battlers took away our penetration to the basket, had great help defense, stayed between our screeners and cutters, and broke our will. Their guards totally dominated the perimeter, their wings took away cuts in the paint, and their posts owned the low block. I thought that Alex and Jake Ukkelberg played outstanding games and Marty Charest had some big baskets from the perimeter, but it was the total effort of every Battler that collectively set the tone and dominated the game from start to finish."

**Breaking news that I will elaborate more on in April...the competitive section assignments have been released by the MSHSL. For boys and girls basketball, B-B-E will continue to compete in the postseason in Section 6A. The only real big change I see in Section 6A is the addition of West Central Area.

More to follow later on Sunday.
