Girls' basketball loses by 3 at Rockford; boys' basketball inflicts a beating on Osakis

It was a tough ending at Rockford, as the Jaguars girls' basketball team lost 50-47 tonight in a Central Minnesota Conference game. It'll be a long road back up a snow-ridden Highway 55.

In a home game, the Jaguars boys' basketball team put a virtual beat down on Osakis and decided to win by a final score of 85-52. It's a tune up for the real test on their schedule, a home game this Thursday against Pierz. Osakis, who is 3-5 in the Prairie Conference, fell to 4-10 overall.

The B-B-E Dazzlers dance team performed at halftime of tonight's Osakis game. The Dazzlers are tuning up for the Camden Conference Varsity Tournament; teams included will be Canby, Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd, Lakeview, MACCRAY, Renville County West and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton. What I find very interesting and somewhat strange is that LQPV/D-B will also compete at the West Central Conference dance competition on Thursday this week in Albany. I would think they'd want to be in one or the other and not both, but I'm not in charge of things so that's how the cookie crumbles I guess. I also know that LQPV is in serious financial trouble and is suffering from massive declining enrollment; this is leading their school to consider leaving the West Central Conference, which they've been a member of since 1991. If that's the case, they would apply to the Camden Conference in most sports and Little Sioux Conference for football. You get the good (a great dance team) with the bad (a shaky outlook for your school) sometimes.
A whopping seven forfeits given up by visiting Parkers Prairie tonight helped the Jaguars wrestling team roll to a 66-12 win. Ross Rath, Patrick Rooney and Dillon Knutson won pins for the Jaguars. They now hold a 5-6 record in dual meets; the Panthers fall to 1-15.
More on all I mentioned above will follow on Wednesday.
