A long ride home
A long, long ride home.
A simply incredible 49-match volleyball winning streak in the Central Minnesota Conference ended tonight.
The Jaguars struggled in the latter half of game four and lost 25-20 on the home floor of the Maple Lake Irish while losing the match by a 3-1 score. They fall to 4-1 in the Central Minnesota Conference, while Maple Lake is now 5-0 and at the top of the league. Pierz, also 4-0 heading into tonight's match, played visiting Rockford Area and won 3-1 to sit in first with the Irish.
The last time one of our volleyball teams lost in conference play was on September 28, 2006 when Eden Valley-Watkins won a 3-2 match on our Homecoming night. That's a night I will never forget. Fortunately, the Jaguars got help that year and ultimately tied for first with Maple Lake at 6-1.
They need to defeat Pierz next week and then hope that Pierz wins in Maple Lake in Week 8...a tall order to ask. In another match tonight, Kimball Area beat Holdingford 3-1.
Here's the end:
That's all I have to say tonight.
