Friday Night Lights II

The B-B-E Jaguars football team got into the win column by a 12-6 score tonight. They had many chances to salt the game at Kimball, but in the end they hung on to withstand a late Cubs drive near the end zone and were happy to get out of town with the win.

B-B-E (1-1) ran for a season-high 271 yards, with four ball carriers rushing for 52 yards or more. Adam Jaeger had 78 yards on 16 carries. The Jaguars also had 54 yards passing from Ryan Illies. The Cubs (0-2) had 224 total yards, with 145 yards coming through the air and 79 on the ground.

Now the Jaguars have to prepare in earnest for a tough home game for Week Three, when they host undefeated Royalton on Friday, Sept. 15. The Royals shut out Parkers Prairie to night by a 32-0 score and are 2-0 so far this season.

In news from Marshall, the B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team went 1-1 tonight in the opening round of the Southwest Minnesota Challenge. In their first match of the night, the Jaguars lost 2-0 to undefeated Lakeville South (4-0) with scores of 12-25, 16-25. The Cougars are a state power in Class 3A, as they took third place at state in 2016 with a final record of 30-4.

In the night cap at Marshall, B-B-E picked up a 2-0 win over Burnsville with scores of 25-23, 25-23.

On Saturday, the Jaguars open up the first of three matches by taking on Jamestown (11-1) at 10:45 a.m. at Southwest Minnesota State University.
