Section wrestling recap

At Benson on Friday night, the Section 5A wrestling Final Four was held.

In one semifinal, the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team lost 49-15 to top-ranked and top-seeded Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville. In the other semifinal, No. 2-seeded and No. 4-ranked Minnewaska Area defeated No. 3-seeded Benson 49-18.

In the section finals that followed, LP-GE/Browerville beat Minnewaska Area 37-25 to advance to state for the second year in a row.

In the Section 4A finals on Friday in Howard Lake, No. 3-ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City beat No. 3-seeded Kimball Area 56-10.

In the Section 6A finals on Friday in Wheaton, No. 1-seeded and No. 11-ranked Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie beat No. 2-seeded Ottertail Central 45-12.

Numerous Class 2A sections will have team tournaments across the state on Saturday.

**Wrestling fans! Remember, as published in the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper, the Section 5A individual tournament will be held on Saturday, February 23 starting at 9 a.m. at the Minnewaska Area high school.
