Saints win!
The Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team won a thriller by a 3-2 score over Clearwater today in Sartell's Omann Insurance baseball invitational. Payton VanBeck pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts for the win.
They play again today, but I haven't tracked down when. Updates to follow. I know Elrosa's second game was is this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
I also learned that St. Martin and Lake Henry are hosting the Stearns County Classic tournament this weekend. However, I don't have that full schedule in front of me. The host Martins lost a tough one by a 4-3 score in extra innings to Avon earlier today.
In Stearns County League Little Dipper action, the host Saints lost by a 4-3 score to Roscoe this past Wednesday night to fall to 1-1 overall. The Rangers improve to 1-1. Elrosa's next Little Dipper game is at Farming tomorrow night (June 6) at 6:30 p.m.
*Added Saturday night...here's video from the fastpitch sub-section playoffs last Tuesday with the B-B-E vs. Ortonville game. I've got more to get to this weekend, and probably more next week. It was an exciting day of fastpitch softball in Benson!
*Here's video from after the top of the sixth inning.
Catcher Kylie Winter caught a pop fly for the third out to end the top of the sixth inning. The Jaguars held a 15-10 lead over the Trojans at that point.
More to come. I have to swing over to the Belgrade V.F.W. Auxiliary Steak Fry and Pork Chop feed now.
**Update late Saturday night...the Elrosa Saints were unable to make it two straight as they lost 7-3 today to the Nisswa Lightning in the second game at Sartell. Even though they were only out-hit b a 7-to-6 margin, the Saints had two errors compared to none by the Lightning. The Saints are next in action in their third and final game of the tournament at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow (Sunday).
