Wrestling Step I: Jaguars throttle Benson (VIDEO added)


The B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team was successful in a big way in their Section 5A quarterfinal match tonight. The Jaguars won 13 of 14 matches against No. 8-seeded Benson while claiming a 77-6 win. Benson, the No. 8 seed, advanced to the quarterfinals after they defeated No. 9-seeded BOLD by a 53-20 score in the earlier match tonight at B-B-E high school.

In the other quarterfinal hosted by B-B-E tonight, Minneota currently has a 27-9 lead over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg through 160 pounds. Final score: Minneota 51, K-M-S 15.

**MAKE TRACKS TO BENSON! Let's go, Jaguar Country!!! The big day is Saturday, just two days from now! The wrestlers will compete in the Section 5A Final Four round with a semifinal round match at 12:30 p.m. at Benson high school, where they will face No. 4-seeded Minneota. Let's pack that gym with B-B-E fans!!!!

Paynesville Area advanced to the quarterfinals after receiving a team forfeit from Ortonville.
Minnewaska Area 38, Canby 27
Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 53, Paynesville Area 10

In a Central Minnesota Conference game tonight, the No. 5-ranked B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team survived an upset bid by host Royalton and took home a 62-57 win. They're 19-3 overall going into next week's action; the next game is at home on Tuesday, February 22 when they host Paynesville Area in a border battle.
