Basketball teams sweep the Tigers (VIDEOS*)

With a near-full house on hand at the B-B-E high school, the B-B-E Jaguars basketball teams beat their boys and girls counterparts from Browerville by double digit margins today.

In the 2:30 p.m. game, the sixth-ranked B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team came out dialed in from start to finish and throttled their Section 5A rivals 69-35. B-B-E took a 41-15 lead at halftime, and they scaled that up to a 53-17 advantage after 5 minutes gone in the second half.

*This is video from the final 2 minutes of the first half this afternoon:

The Jaguars shot at a 49 percent clip from the floor and were led by Abby Berge's 19 points on 67 percent shooting. Brooklyn Fischer poured in 18 points with 6 coming at the free throw line plus 7 rebounds. Tiyana Schwinghammer added 13 points with 6 rebounds.

In the second varsity game, the No. 7-ranked (Minnesota Basketball News) B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team picked up a 71-56 win against No. 13-ranked Browerville. The Prairie Conference-leading Tigers held an 8-4 lead with 14:39 to go, but Luke Dingmann's midrange bucket with 11:55 left gave the Jaguars their first lead at 12-10. Browerville never led from that point on.

After taking a 31-25 lead at halftime, the Jaguars throttled up the offense. Brady Schwinghammer buried a three-pointer from the top of the key in the first 30 seconds of the second half, and just a minute later he knocked down a three from the left wing for a 37-25 lead to fuel what was a 10-0 run to start the second half.

*Here's the starter introductions, the tip-off and the opening minutes of the boys' basketball game:

Browerville is one of the favorites to win Section 5A. Their main opposition will be Nevis, who resides in the same sub-section as the Tigers.

More to come much later tonight. Video is uploading. It's time to pack up for open gym.
