Individual state wrestling, Day II

On the second day at state, a few results are in the book by noon for members of our B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team.

At 132, Ryan Jensen won twice in the consolation bracket. He first defeated Kimball's Mark Schiefelbein by fall (0:52) before earning a 4-0 decision over Osakis's Jacob Taplin.

At 138, Wyatt Engen lost this morning in the consolation bracket by a 12-7 decision to Canby's Lane Fink. This ended his season.

At 170! A big win for junior Maximus Hanson! He earned a 5-3 decision in sudden victory overtime fashion in today's semifinal round against Medford senior Tate Hermes. This lands Hanson a spot in a state title match tonight!

At 182 this morning, Carson Gilbert won a second straight consolation bracket match by picking up a 4-2 decision against Holdingford's Jaxon Bartkowicz.

And a very, very difficult loss...very tough to swallow...this one hurts, not gonna salt it any other way. Ethan Spanier fell in a 7-5 decision in his semifinal match today to Jackson County Central's Caleb Vancura, the No. 2 seed in the bracket. Spanier trailed 7-4 going into the third period and fought valiantly across the final two minutes. He needs one win in the consolation bracket to advance to the third-place match.

More to come. *This is updated as of 13:19.

And something to mark on your calendar! Everyone is invited to an exciting upcoming Craft and Vendor Show at the Ben Franklin building in downtown Glenwood on Saturday, March 11 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (physical address is 2 East Minnesota Avenue, Glenwood, 56334) Some local downtown businesses will be having events this day as well!

UPDATE: at 132, Ryan Jensen lost a 5-3 decision to Caledonia/Houston's Owen Denstad. He goes for fifth place tonight.

At 170, Maximus Hanson will face top-seeded and senior Collin Boese of HL-W-W for the title.

At 182, Carson Gilbert lost to rival Peyton Hemmesch of Paynesville by fall (6:00), and he will go for fifth place tonight.

At 220, Ethan Spanier will face Royalton/Upsala's Bryce Holm for third place tonight. This is all I've got for this blog post. I will try to blog from Wadena tonight as I am gearing up and covering the girls' basketball game.
